Re: Megiddo
Ayn's eyes widen in shock as a bullet grazes her shoulder and bounces off the Hummer's grill. "****!" Her palms begin to glow a bright white, but she refrains from firing blindly into the crowd. She's going to have to pick out the thug before she fires anything.
|
Re: Megiddo
Jekin shrugs. "I have no idea, they all just got pissy." He turns to Wessen. "Get your bike and go ahead of us, we'll come behind with the hummer and cover you. Everyone get in the car!"
Upon hearing the talk of why the citizens were so mad, Lara laughed nervously. Though she didn't think she was at complete fault for all of this. She turns quickly as she hears Ayn cry out. "You ok?" |
Re: Megiddo
What happened to you, One? Sorry, we got separated. Honestly, I think just BEING here is enough to piss them off. And we didn't really make any effort to hide our intentions. Maybe they know about the gate.. and I doubt we'd be too happy if someone came a-lookin for it either. They probably think we're trying to open it rather than keep it closed.
That or they just really hate tourists. Wes tries to peer through the crowd and see if any of their remaining comrads are on their way. Alright, I'm goin. I'll wait for you out a bit and make sure you're behind me. We should lose them in no time. Slade speeds off on his Tandem. |
Re: Megiddo
"Yeah.. There's just one... There's that bitch.." A narrow beam of white energy shoots from her palm, hitting her assailant square in the chest. He doesn't even seem surprised, he just slumps forward, unmoving.
Ayn hops up onto the back of the Hummer, placing a hand over her shoulder to stop the bleeding. |
Re: Megiddo
One explains quickly to Wessen before he rides off. ". . . ****in' got me in a corner!" A bullet zooms past his ear, this was enough for One. He jumped in the Hummer.
|
Re: Megiddo
Jekin jumps into the driver seat and turns the hummer on. "Time to go!" Jekin takes off after Wessen.
Lara screams in surpise as the car takes off and she barrel jumps next to Ayn. "You bastard, you almost left me behind!" |
Re: Megiddo
She mutters a string of curses to herself as she bandages up her shoulder, then checks its range of motion. Good enough. "Any idea where this train's taking us?"
|
Re: Megiddo
"Wessen and I got the directions from an old lady. It's located on a farm, he has the map though, so I don't know how far it is."
|
Re: Megiddo
About a mile out, Wes stops his Tandem to the side and looks back to check on their progress. They are fast approaching in the Humvee.
All loaded up and ready to go.. good thing. Wes checks the map the old lady gave him and does his best to memorize it as the chalk is quickly wearing off. When the Hummer is upon him, he speeds off in the propor direction, leading them toward the foothills. After a few minutes, they are in the general vicinity. He parks his bike and dismounts. This is the general area... I suggest we all look around. The foothills are small, but large enough to block out the view of the town in the distance. It's a rather pleasant area, painted in soft, green grass with overhaning shade trees and large stones perfect for resting upon. A very ironic place to find what is essentially the doorway to hell. There's supposedly a farm here. Probably just a bit up the way. Our source was nonspecific as to where on the farm it is, but this narrows it down pretty well. |
Re: Megiddo
Chapter Three: Out of the Frying Pan, Into the Fire
Lara shrugs. "To the shrine, with any luck." Jekin continues to follow Wessen and finally stops when they reach where the shrine is supposedly located. He hops out and listens to him. "Alright then. Since splitting up has caused trouble all this time, let's all stay together and try to find this farm." Lara reloads her weapons and holsters them. "Lead on, Magellan." Wheither Lara ment Wessen or her brother, one couldn't be sure. However, it didn't seem like she was sure either. |
Re: Megiddo
Steps out of the Hummer, which was pretty beat up. "Damn, we just bought this too. Oh well." He looks around. "Quite the scenery change. . . . it's nice out here. Hmm, there's more than one farm, look on the mailboxes for Bulbra, that's the name of the farm."
|
Re: Megiddo
Ayn bites her lip, a sign of tension. This place was unmistakable, the scent of death and decay clogged her throat, making breathing a chore. They had to be close.
|
Re: Megiddo
Wes checks the map again, and as expected the Chalk has almost completely rubbed off by this point. "Good thing I stored it in my head.." he thinks to himself.
We're not working with Rand McNally here, so this isn't an exact science. I'm not sure exactly how much further it is, but I doubt it's far. I suggest we move in this direction. Points at a gap in the northerly direction, just past a mailbox for the farm, the location of which seemed eerily random. But your guess is as good as mine. So I think I'll hand this back over to the captain. Wes points at Jekin. Lead us, oh Moses. |
Re: Megiddo
Jekin shrugs and heads in that direction. "All roads lead to Rome, no?"
|
Re: Megiddo
One walks behind the others, checking each mailbox they pass.
|
Re: Megiddo
Yeah, but in this singular rare case, only one road leads to hell.
It isn't long before they come to what looks kind of like a tiny ranch, complete with wooden fence. It looks perfectly kept up, but there appears to be no cattle or livestock of any kind. Nor are there any crops being tended. Just grass. There's a small log homestead and a brown wooden barn. In between the two is the door to a storm cellar beneath the ground. Or perhaps a wine cellar. Well we're sticking together this time, right? I can't help but think that the underground bit seems like the logical place to look. As he waits for a response, he feels a bit of a chill. Like a breeze of frozen air even amidst what seems like a pleasant summer day. Gotta say.. I'm not supernatural and creepy like some of y'all, but this place is giving even me a bad feeling. |
Re: Megiddo
She stops after a few minutes to catch her breath. The reek of millions of dead builds up on her throat, and she coughs to try to get it out, but to no avail.
Ayn grumbles and forces herself to keep walking, her eyes fixed on the scenery. |
Re: Megiddo
Slade turns to Ayn
Are you okay? |
Re: Megiddo
Lara slows down and stands next to Ayn. "Are you sure you don't want to wait for us in the hummer? You don't look to well..."
__ Jekin nods to Wessen. "I feel it too..." Jekin opens the door to the cellar and is met by darkness. He grabs a flashlight from his belt, and descends down. |
Re: Megiddo
She nods, and looks at Lara, a stubborn expression painted on her face. "There's a whole lot of death here.. But I'm not going to let the smell stop me."
|
Re: Megiddo
"I don't see a shrine though. Whatever, let's move in." He comes close up behind Jekin.
|
Re: Megiddo
Atta girl.. hopefully this at least means we're in the right place.
Yeah, no shrine yet. Maybe it's underground? I may be oversimplifying this, but it seems logical to me. Heh, what do I know. I'm only human. Wessen pulls out a very small LED flashlight with a very bright beam and attaches it to a mounting point on his gun. This cowboy's ready. |
Re: Megiddo
Riki, subdued and timid, taps One on his shoulder. "Should we do this...? I mean...the gates of Hell...what if we all die?"
Rikali, who had followed from the skies, lands next to Riki and One. She appears nervous and tensed. "This really isn't a good idea." |
Re: Megiddo
Lara frowns. "Alright..." She walks next to Ayn, hoping her condition doesn't worsen. She then looks at Rikali and Riki "You could wait outside while the big kids go in. We don't mind."
__ Jekin shrugs again. "Well we best look anyway." After travelling deep into what appears to be a wine cellar, he abruptly stops. "....Oh ****...." In front of Jekin is a large, stone door with symbols older then even the Abbissian ones at Obersin. But most disturbing of all, it seemed as though the door had forcefully been ripped out of place, revealing a very strange passage way aligned with torches. "...We found it." |
Re: Megiddo
The stench continually worsens, burning in her nostrils, but she ignores it. She unsheathes her sword and walks down the tunnel. She frowns, it's too dark to see.
Ayn raises her hand, and a small orb of light appears in her hands, which she uses as a sort of torch to help guide her and the others through. |
Re: Megiddo
Um.. I hope this thing widens up inside, because if the Abbis happens to be in there right at this moment, he'll obliterate us all in one fell swoop.
Touches the markings on the broken stone door. A magical seal, I take it? Is the moral of this story that brute strength can overcome anything? I hope it is. Cocks his gun just to hear the sound it makes. |
Re: Megiddo
Kadino's Effect of Sneak wears off. (Sorry, I had to :P)
*Appears from around a niche in the tunnel wall* Hello travelers, do not fear of me for I do not wish to fear of you. Might I ask what you are doing in this place of darkness with a beacon to all who would find you? |
Re: Megiddo
Girl and dragon stare at the tunnel, hanging back. "Is this really needed? Would Onarav really need to come here?"
|
Re: Megiddo
Jekin is surpised by the newcomer, and jumps back. "Who are you?!"
|
Re: Megiddo
Ayn eventually reaches the others and the opening. She peers in for a moment, and is somewhat stricken by the chill from the opening. She turns at Jekin, wondering what he was so surprised at. She then notices Kadino.
"Ah, of course. It makes sense that Hell's welcome committee consists of a moogle." She wheezes slightly. |
Re: Megiddo
One snarls at Riki and Rikali. "If you're scared, then don't come! But of course, I'm sure you're gonna come anyway, seeing as your daughter is with him." He's addressing Riki. One then turns back around and follows Jekin into the passageway. "Surprise, surprise."
|
Re: Megiddo
My name is Okopudinuouo, please call me "Kadino" as it is easier to say and what I am best known as. I am in search of a certain werewolf that was once my friend, an unholy vampire priest touched him with the undeath.
By the look on your faces, I assume you have not seen such a wretched creature. Have you? |
Re: Megiddo
May I assume that you are a Moogle of the friendly persuasion?
Wes asks with a bit of a chuckle as he's never heard of a Moogle who was anything other than friendly and reliable. I've not seen any werewolf.. or at least, not that I knew was a werewolf. Seen a horrendously powerful Abbis around here anywhere? We always seem to lose him. He's worse than a remote control. |
Re: Megiddo
Rikali snarls something and glares at One, following him into the passageway. Riki follows, her jaw set in determination, biting her lip to quell her fear. The dragon's head scarpes the tunnel top, knocking loose a stone. She jumps at the too-loud noise.
|
Re: Megiddo
Hah, friendly? At times. Let us say that you should not wish to know about the darker side of moogledom.
|
Re: Megiddo
Lara stares at Kadino and then squeals. "He's so cute!! ^_^"
Jekin turns to face his sister and raises an eyebrow. She retorts with a rather innocent expression. "What?" Jekin sighed loudly. "God help us." |
Re: Megiddo
Laughs at what Jekin said. "Now more than ever." Looks at the moogle. "I think I've seen you before."
|
Re: Megiddo
Darker side huh? Well I'll try not to piss you off. So no Abbis? Not sure if that's a good thing or a bad thing.
Can you tell us what lies ahead? Or did you perhaps also just arrive? |
Re: Megiddo
Ayn bursts into a fit of laughter upon hearing Lara.
After a moment, she regains her composure and her breath, although hearing that "He's so CUTE!!" comment replaying in her head sets her off in another set of giggles. |
Re: Megiddo
*Every single hair flares to-end and two lantern-like emerald eyes, with an unearthly glow, explode open in the relative darkness of the tunnel*
Be Quiet You Fool! Have you no idea the danger of a creature of undeath? He was here, I can smell him... rotten, suffering, degrading into rage and away from humanity. If we cannot find him in time, I may not be able to save him from the curse. Yes. Then we kill him. And if that happens, I only hope that I will be able to bring the body; or ash if he mentally overpowers his master; back home to bury. |
